This Saturday, Godoy Cruz and Boca Juniors faced each other in the debuting match in the Argentine Superliga Cup. The game took place at the Malvinas Argentinas Stadium, but it was behind closed doors. The Argentine Champions defeated the hosts 4-1 with goals from Buffarini, Eduardo Salvio, Carlos Izquierdoz and Jorman Campuzano. Tomas Badaloni scored the consolation for the hosts.

The match started quite busy. Thus, it was Godoy Cruz who created the first couple of chances. However, those who came out ahead were the visitors, with seven on the clock. After a poor clearance from the defense, the ball fell to Buffarini, who opened the scoring for Boca. 0-1.

Godoy Cruz went on searching for the draw and forced Boca Juniors’ keeper, Andrada, to make good saves. However, the keeper nothing could do on 28, as Badaloni connected with a free-kick from the right and headed home. 1-1.

Three mins later though, Boca scored again with Eduardo Salvio and went half-time ahead in the scoring.

Godoy Cruz got back up to level things up and had some chances through Badaloni, but he wasted the chances. The hosts’ impetuous dropped significantly throughout the second half, and Boca capitalized on that to wrap the match up.

With 67 on the clock, Carlos Izquierdoz made it three, and Campuzano sealed the deal with a header to conduct the Argentine Champions to a triumph at the Malvinas Argentinas Stadium.

With the 4-1 victory, Boca Juniors starts the competition in the momentary leadership of Group A with three points and three goals of goal difference. In the next matchday, the Xeneizes will visit Independiente on Sunday. Godoy Cruz is going to travel to face Arsenal de Sarandi, on Friday.
