Despite the paralyzation in most football championships around the world, some clubs decided to take advantage of the moment to organize a summer clear-out in the squad for the next season. With that, they begin to move the transfer market directly and indirectly -through rumors- in order to bring reinforcements or sell players that are not in their plans anymore. And Real Madrid is certainly among them.
The Merengue team plans to take a look at their squad and get rid of some names. It is expected that Zinedine Zidane will finally allow both James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale to leave.
There are currently 25 players in the squad and 11 players on loan to other clubs that are expected to return. Apart from that, there are players in Real Madrid Castilla, like the newly signed Brazilian Renier, that could get a spot on the professional team.
Among the athletes on loan, two are probably returning and will have space on the team: Achraf Hakimi, who is currently playing for Borussia Dortmund, and Martin Odegaard, playing for Real Sociedad, and was vital for knocking out Real Madrid of the Copa del Rey some weeks ago.
The Merengues are also analyzing the situation of Sergio Reguilon and Dani Ceballos, and they must decide if they will remain or will leave Los Blancos.
Colombian James Rodriguez may be used as a bargaining chip in a deal with Arsenal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Both Lucas Vasquez and Mariano Dias will probably leave as well, once both couldn’t convince the fans in Madrid that they are worthy of a place in the team.
Brahim Diaz, Luka Modric, and Nacho Fernandez also didn’t have good performances during the season, which ended in all the three losing space. However, their future is still undefined. If a good proposal appears, they will leave, if not, they will probably have a second chance.
No matter what happens, we will probably see a different Real Madrid next season. Names that we are used to could leave and others that we never heard of may get to the spotlight.
